Just got back from the Show in Park City at the Silver Queen Gallery. I enjoyed seeing the Silver Queen family again because they’re great people and always take great care of me by flying me out and putting me up in great vacation condo but most of all they’re just a fabulous group of people. Park city is a beautiful place and such a great change from the warm, sunny, perfectly amazing weather I come from daily in San Diego but I would not like it for too long. I was in town for 4 days and had a good time. There’s a weird thing that happens with me when I have a show that I’m trying to change about myself. Even though I’m EXTREMELY honored that galleries show my work and people come out to see it and meet me, if I’m going to be honest, it freaks me out. Maybe I’m lacking somewhere in the ego department because all the attention laid on me makes me feel somewhat of overwhelmed. Truthfully I guess the best way to describe my feelings at art shows are that I don’t deserve the attention. The weird thing is that while feeling a bit awkward I also enjoy seeing people examine the work as well as speaking to them about the work. So even though I find it hard to take compliments I take great pleasure in that people find some enjoyment in viewing as well as purchasing what I call “my dumb little paintings”.

I loved seeing all the skiers, such a foreign sight to me.

My wife enjoying the cold weather.

I just wrapped all my paintings for the 2 man show with Frank Gonzales at Silver Queen Fine Art in Park City, UT. I hate wrapping up the work and boxing it. It always takes me all day and no matter what supplies I have I always seem to run out of something and usually with about 1 or 2 paintings left. Plus I make a mess with cutting cardboard and moving junk around and then my house looks like a disaster and all that good stuff. Well now that that’s all done it’s now up to UPS to get it all there safely and hopefully they don’t lose anything or bang it up too much. Godspeed my little paintings and hopefully I never see you guys again.

Here’s the postcard for the February 2011 show in Park City, UT. For the third year in a row I’m happily doing a show along side my friend Frank Gonzales, most of the work I’m making and posting right now will be at the show. It’s also a pleasure of mine to be working again with the folks at Silver Queen who are great bunch of people and are always a pleasure to be around. So if you’ll be around the Park City area stop by and take a look or say hello because we’re flying out to be there and I’d love to meet some of you that check out this little blog and write me.

Here’s some pieces from the Beautiful Failures show at Art Whino. Not necessarily my favorite pieces from the show, just some of the first ones on my computer.
I recently just got back from a my solo show “Beautiful Failures” at Art Whino in National Harbor, Maryland. I did a show of 25 paintings in 25 days, whether the pieces were show worthy or not, I had to show them. There was a good turnout, I sold work, but most of all I got to hang with my buddy and fellow artist Frank Gonzales for a couple of days who came in from New York to play with me. Thanks to the folks at Art Whino for taking the chance on showcasing my work.
